First floor almost in.

Voila.
Engineered wood. LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber). Pressure treated wood and traditional lumber.
links: SolidStart, iLevel & Wikipedia.
On the left, SIPs is put in to form the exterior walls by the stair way.
On the right, a close up of LVL on top of pressure treated wood, sandwiching some sort of foam membrane and the concrete.
This area is where the stair well will be.
And there it is.

Walls and 1st Floor!

This is Robert and his crew. He's a SIPs specialist, and has been for 15 years. He said that the framing and floor will be in by today or latest tomorrow. Apparently, when the order for lumber went out, the SIPs wall by the stairwell was forgotten. So Robert & his team got the SIPs panels and assembled it on site without having to wait for weeks for the factory to fabricate it. Hurray for Robert.
Here is the lumber dropped off.
The crew framing away.
Panorama
Close up of the sill, that will mate with the SIP wall.
Some shots of the framing.
I had to work late so I took this photo at about 9pm-ish. The first floor is almost in.
Yabadabadoo!

Xypex and green foam in daylight

The gap has been filled in with cocoa colored xypex water proofing.
Here is a picture of my sump hole.
And a daylight pic of the green spray foam on my walls.
Today was suppose to be the day that the flooring was to be put on but its been delayed till next week Thursday.

Green Slime

Spray foam insulation around the basement walls.
Here Ernie is watching, I guess, the spray foam guy do his thing. Pic curtsey of Kirk.
I took this picture around 7pm so it was getting dark. Neat stuff.
I touched the insulation material and it felt like Styrofoam.

Working on the slab.

Here construction guys are removing the wood molds that create a perimeter gap around the interior walls. This gap will be filled with Xypex waterproofing. I was told that this costs extra but will make my basement completely water-proof.
Here is a view where you can see the gap.
By Wednesday, I am told, the main floor will be installed. Update: the floor will be delayed till next week Thursday.

Scoring the concrete slab

Today, Ernie and his crew came and scored my basement slab. This is to prevent random cracking because its such a large slab of cement flooring.
Update: I learned that there are two types of concrete. Those that are cracked and those that will crack. So the scoring of the slab is an essential effort at controlling the phenomena.
Below is a pic of the cement guys using a $5000 piece of equipment to score the floor.
A pic after the job was done. They swept and vacuumed as much of the dust and debris as they could.
 Close up of the scoring.
Next, more spray foam.

My Cocoa colored basement slab!

Today, my lovely Cocoa colored basement slab was poured! The light was getting dim so I'll have to take more photos tomorrow maybe.

Rain protection plastic cover.

Because of the recent rains, Kirk decided to have the floor area covered with plastic. I think slab will go in soon.

Rebar & plastic sheets

The rebar is in. Everything is a bit wet from all the rain but it didn't stop the workers, I guess, from continuing with laying down all that rebar.
I also picked a brown color, Cocoa 6130 from David Colors, so I can have a big brown basement slab; rather than a depressing bluish grey one. It costs a few hundred bucks more but it should add character.

Gravel in

Today they brought this huge machine to get the gravel into place preparing for the slab
Photos provided by Kirk.
After work, I went to the site and took these photos. It was raining and will be for the next three days. I was told it won't affect the construction. Phew.
On a separate note: I finally saw the baby goldfish in the right pond. It looked like a white butterfly tail; probably offspring of the telescopes. However it did not have telescope eyes. I couldn't take a pic of it. It was very shy.
