TV stars

Going through security checkpoint yesterday at San Jose airport I saw two actors in front of me. Scott Foley (The Unit) and Greg Grunberg (Heroes). Wasn't sure if they were returning back to LA after a shoot or whatever. I was going to ask, then I thought I would sound stupid; so I just kept quiet. I wished I had my camera.

 Then on my back from Burbank I saw Zeljko Inavnek (Heroes).

I also saw another actor at the hotel I stayed at but can't quite place what TV or movie he was in.

Sensitive Plant Mimosa Pudica

This is Mimosa Pudica, a flowering shrub/tree that was sent to me free with one of my Tebows. I didn't know what it was and it looked so pathetic. But after doing a bit of research, the plant is cute and has these leaves that snap shut when touched. It has fuzzy pink flowers. I hope it lives.

Gobo, White Koi, Black Moor, Humming Bird & Julie

Gobo looks a little freaked out by the flash of my camera. Lately he gets freaked out easily?

I found this white Koi at my local pet shop. It was $12 but I thought it was pretty and I thought it would look cute in my pond. Like to give it a name but haven't thought of one yet.

This Black Moor was at the same pet shop. It looked really good and has a decent tail. I hope both the koi and goldfish survives.

 This hummingbird has staked out its territory around my backyard. It keeps buzzing around me... I guess to check out if I am a threat or something? I watched it chase another humming bird away at full speed. it was cool.

I planted a couple of small maidenhair ferns (they were growing in my orchid pots) into the java moss that's growing up and out of my pond. I am hoping it will take root and create a cute border thingy.

Well, here is Julie. It looks like she is enjoying the slightly warmer weather over the last couple of days. The bottom growth is producing a lot of buds. If they take off, it'll be a very very low branching tree. I am hoping that will be good. I really hope they're not root-stock growth.

Outdoor electrical box/house

So, I am building a box to house my electrical and air pump stuff to protect it from the weather.

I had this huge piece of 3/4 inch plywood that was practically rotting outdoors. It was a very nice 48 x 48 sheet that I neglected to bring indoors and it got weather damage over the many years it was in my backyard. It was a bit warped and I was a little scared running it through my table saw but it cut through like a trooper. I discarded as much of the damaged and distorted parts I could and found there was plenty of material. The box measures about 8 x 11.5 inches. the roof was cut on my table saw with a 30 degree bevel to make that cute roof. I also used waterproof glue to put the baby together. The next thing to do is put little legs under the box, drill holes to allow electrical wire and air hose inputs and outputs, then put a final coat of paint.

I clipped the top tip off Manila to encourage branching. I was surprised at how mangoey the sap smelled.My Shinseiki pear put out two blossoms. Not sure if it will bear fruit?
