More on back fill.

I went to my property today to take some photos and to top up my goldfish pond with water. I discovered that two of my brute containers (that I use for my hydroponics) was stolen. I was so bummed that some construction guy just decided to take stuff from my property like that.
Oh well, its my karma.
Here are some photos.
Noam looking at his kids, Jaz & Ty, playing on my first floor.
My drive way is ready, I guess, for the cement slab.
My shadow. South facing light wells. Bright.
North facing light well.

Back fill done... then it rained.

The guy on the left is Ed. He brought the dirt.
The guy on the right is Bill, he's the owner of the company. He's the same guy who dug the hole in the first place.
I was told by Ed that the dirt came from Steven's Creek Quarry and that its very good quality. The soil was even sifted and all. Sounds good?

The Joy of Back Fill.

The side of the house is now back filled.
 View from backyard.
 View from my workshop window.
Compacting dirt for the foundation of the garage.
More dirt is brought in to even out the front yard. I am guessing this will be it for the back fill for today? Tomorrow the soil engineer will come to sign of on the stuff.

Back fill!

Here we are. Back filling up against the basement walls. Hurray.
A view of the back, where the light well for the big basement window will be. I wonder if the accursed buried swimming pool will come back yet again and bite me on this?
Here is Albert rolling the front yard flat.
The stairwell side of the house showing pipes about to be buried.
Here is a pic of the inside basement walls. Now that I can walk up to my property, I can take photos.
A view of the front right side of my foundation.
I was told that this black sewer pipe was nearly forgotten to be installed in. Meaning, they would have have to dig all the back fill up on this side of the house to reinstall. Phew! Thank goodness it was caught.
Here is a shot of the big pile of gravel that will go into the side. I was told that tomorrow, a truck with more dirt will arrive to complete the back filling process.

Drain pipes & the initial gravel back fill!

The gravel has been put in. I wasn't able to take pictures of the initial pipe work that was laid down. The black felt material is a filter that is wrapped over the gravel (sort of like a big gravel burrito) before soil is brought in and compacted down. The material filters out fine soil from settling into the gravel, keeping the perforated pipes from getting clogged.
Here is a view that shows two parallel pipes being laid down. A drain was installed by the window but I forgot to take a photo of it.
Pic of the connections by the sump.
Soon, they will completely back fill and I'll be able to walk up and into the basement!

 Next, back fill!
